The unit Macbeth by William Shakespeare was chosen because it allows students to read Macbeth and incorporates word recognition, comprehension, interpretation, analysis, evaluation, and appreciation for Shakespeare. The 12th grade reading content standard states that students will develop the reading skills necessary for word recognition, comprehension, interpretation, analysis, evaluation, and appreciation of the written text. I chose this unit because it allowed me to incorporate the areas of writing, reading, speaking and listening, and viewing and representing into meeting my teacher objectives for 12th grade. The stated Learning gap is below grade level reading comprehension. The unit MACBETH was chosen because it teaches students how to read MACBETH with understanding of key passages and emphasizes clear interpretation through the use of the classroom computer and group activities. The Content Standard for Reading, Grade 12, states that the student will develop the reading skills necessary for word recognition, comprehension, interpretation, analysis, evaluation, and appreciation of the written text. I chose this unit because it allowed me to use the Internet in my class to practice comprehension skills online. It provided additional support with a dictionary and other tools which help increase students' comprehension scores. Three links, two of which are dead.
