Actaeon: Actaeon, after a day of hunting, happened to see the chaste goddess Diana naked. She punished him by transforming him into a stag, which was pursued and torn to pieces by Actaeon's own hounds. In the painting below, it's only Actaeon's head which has been transformed, and Diana herself has joined in the chase.
This painting, by Titian, was done in 1562, two years before Shakespeare's birth, and is 179 x189 cm, almost six feet wide and more than six feet high.
